NCL Getaway - Sail Away

NCL Getaway Water Slides

After lunch at American Diner we registered the girls at Splash Academy and I will admit I was a smidge hesitant about how they would do being left there without me or Naomi (I worried for nothing LOL). We headed to do some exploring and Grace and Charlie were excited to hit the Kids Aqua Park and cool off. Of course there are no pictures of this because Naomi and I were too busy finding a bartender to bring us yummy cocktails! The pool deck was insanity that first afternoon but we were exploring and the kids just loved it. I liked the layout of the pool deck with Kids Aqua Park opposite one of the pools. It was very family friendly. The bartenders and pool side servers were working hard and were all terrific.

Our cabin was not on the main Haven deck (16 on the Getaway) - we were on deck 13. I’ve read reviews from folks that didn’t like this but we found it to be no problem at all and gave us a chance to get our steps in every day. It was an easy walk to the elevators and up to deck 16 for The Haven pool, lounge and restaurant.

For sail away, we found the main pool and outside decks a little too chaotic so we decided to experience it from the balcony of our Haven suite. If you’ve ever considered sailing out of NYC it is truly an incredible sight to sail under the Verrazano Narrows Bridge with the entire NYC skyline in view. My girls had never seen anything like that and it was truly a treat to do it from our own cabin in a relaxing environment. We were all pretty crushed from embarkation excitement so this was a perfect opportunity to take some downtime with a gorgeous view.
