NCL Escape - Day 2 @ Sea

Our first day at sea we had breakfast in the Taste dining room. Service was slow with a few messed up items, but all was yummy, and servers were apologetic about the slowness. We were not in a rush so all good.

While it was only 60-ish degrees my kiddos insisted it was pool time so out to the main pool we went, and it was bustling by 10am.  Regarding the kids’ pool — why is the kids pool 5’7” deep? Just seems odd when I cannot even stand where my littles are swimming. Bonus for the NCL lifejackets! Peace of mind even with my 9-year-old who is a strong swimmer. The ship was a rockin’!

For lunch we hit the buffet. Overall, I was not impressed with it throughout the trip. We waited online for pizza to come out hot and fresh (which it was) but was also way undercooked. Not a lot for my picky kiddos to eat and if there were chicken nuggets to be found please someone tell me where they were. My girls lived on rice and French fries. I had a great sandwich one day for lunch and the hot dogs were decent too. The soft serve ice cream wasn’t great, so we opted for scooped ice cream from the buffet which we all loved. The exception to all of this was breakfast which was a standout every morning we ate there. Waffles, pancakes, plenty of crispy bacon, sausage, omelets, and fresh fruit! We tend to eat a big breakfast so all those yummy options kept me and my kids satisfied.

After a full day at the pool and exploring we hit the dining room for a 5:30pm dinner. We at in the Manhattan dining room which was such a treat! Live music and on one of the nights we were seated on the dance floor close to the music. Beautiful venue. Food was overall pretty good. The only bad meal I had there was the whole roast sirloin which was basically tough roast beef. But the sides were yummy, and the desserts were consistently excellent. I was also impressed by the wait staff, all were attentive and lovely.

We virtually queued up for Splash Academy at the designated time (6pm) and my girls made it into for 7:15pm. They had a blast that night and I hit the casino for a bit. No wins but lots of fun!
