NCL Escape Day 4 - Alas We Won’t See Hamilton
Not the musical, the city at the heart of Bermuda. The best laid plans are bound to be screwed up when your kid wakes up in the middle of the night with a bad earache! We had planned to go to Hamilton in the morning but my youngest Charlotte had a bad night and I didn’t have the heart to drag her out of bed once she finally fell back to sleep to make the ferry to Hamilton. We took our time and didn’t rush.
We finally found the breakfast gem in O'Sheehan's on Wednesday morning! Eric our server was a delight and had my kids laughing. We went later in the AM when lots of passengers were off the ship soaking up the last few hours of the Bermuda sun and it was practically empty. Everything came fast and was hot. We ate there Thursday morning too and it was fabulous.
After breakfast we wandered around the Royal Navy Dockyard for an hour and did some shopping before getting back on the ship to be poolside the rest of the day. We hit the local pharmacy for some additional children’s Advil and sunscreen and shopped for souvenirs in the local establishments. Prices were typical for port shops.
We spent the rest of the day poolside. I really liked the layout of having the kids pool and splash pad opposite the grown-up section, was easy to navigate. It was also easy to run into the buffet and grab fries or ice cream for a snack. My kids loved it and spent a ton of time in the pool despite the cooler temps. The hot tubs were packed, and I never made it into one. I will say that the entertainment by the pool seemed a bit lacking. We had a great ice carver the last day at sea but other than that not a lot of activity beyond music. I didn't really mind but usually there is more going on. We never had an issue finding loungers and we don't "save" them. The ones in the sun were harder to come by since it was cooler and folks wanted the warmth.
Dinner in the Manhattan dining room and an attempt to get in to Splash Academy – which failed. Early bedtime!
